New Delhi:18/12:(odiannews):Thiruvananthapuram; Months after the Supreme Court restored the controversial marriage of Hadiya, formerly a Hindu, with Shafin Jahan, the father of the 26-year-old Kerala woman, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. KM Ashokan, who joined the BJP on Sunday, had approached the court, alleging his daughter was a victim of "love jihad".
After joining the BJP, KM Ashokan has extended support to the ongoing stir of the party against the verdict of Supreme court on Sabarimala temple. While addressing the media, Ashokan said the BJP was the only political party which protected the belief of Hindus.
Saying that he was a Communist earlier, Ashokan alleged the party was lately indulged in dirty vote-bank politics. He added that he had joined the BJP three years ago, but received the official membership on Sunday. Notably, the BJP is spearheading the protest against the decision Supreme court, allowing the entry of young women in Sabarimala temple.
