Bhubaneswar 30 Jul : Two workers reportedly died due to suffocation while they were cleaning a septic tank yesterday.
The tragic incident took place at Raghunath Nagar Lane-2 in Sisupalgarh area in the city.As per reports, the two labourers got trapped inside the septic tank. Due to lack of oxygen, they died of asphyxia inside the tank.
Despite many efforts, they could not come out. Locals also failed to bring them out. With the help of fire service personnel, the workers were rescued from the tank and were taken to the Capital Hospital where they were declared dead.
Now the question arises how they were allowed to get inside without any safety gear. Inspite of having safety guidelines and gear to clean the tank, how such incidents can happen . Dissatisfaction has been shown among the people regarding this. People questioning how bmc can be so irresponsible ? Is it because they are just labourers ?There was no response from Bhubaneswar Mayor in this regard .
