RPF constable shot dead four people on board train

Mumbai 31 Jul: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable shot dead four people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), on board a train travelling from Jaipur to Mumbai near the Palghar district, informed an official.

The constable fired from his automatic weapon, killing an RPF Assistant Sub Inspector and three other passengers of the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express shortly after 5 am, the official said.

Palghar is around 100 km from Mumbai. Chetan Kumar Choudhary opened fire on his escort duty incharge ASI Tika Ram Meena in the running train, he added.

After killing his senior, the constable went to another bogie and shot dead three passengers, the official added.

According to the reports, the incident took place on the B 5 coach of the Mumbai Central SF Express train (12956) at 5:23 am between Vapi and Surat station.

The constable was caught by police at Mira Road with the help of Government Railway Police and RPF officials. The accused got down from the train in Dahisar by chain pulling after the incident, however, he was detained by the Mumbai Railway Police at the Bhayandar station.
