Thailand Open 2021: PV Sindhu defeats Busanan Ongbamrungphan in straight games, advances to Round 2

Bangkok january 19 : India’s top-ranked shuttler PV Sindhu began her campaign at the Toyota Thailand Open Super 1000 with a comfortable straight-game in her first round of the women’s singles competition.

Sindhu defeated lower-ranked Thailand shuttler Busanan Ongbamrungphan 21-17, 21-13 in 43 minutes on Tuesday.

PV Sindhu had a disappointing resumption to her tour following the Covid-19 pandemic as the star shuttler was knocked out in the first round of Yonex Thailand Open Super 1000 last week. She had suffered a defeat in three games to Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt.

However, Sindhu brought out her A game against Ongbamrungphan. She was trailing at the break of the first game but she pushed past the Thailand shuttler and never looked back. Sindhu was able to wrap up the contest in less than an hour’s time, giving no chance to her opponent to mount a comeback.
