Odisha registers 11,498 new COVID-19 cases; Khurda highest with 1,497

Bhubaneswar May 20 :

Odisha registered 11,498 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 6,55,899. The active caseload in the state now stands at 1,06,812. Out of the 11,498 new infections, 6,439 were reported from quarantine centres while 5,059 persons contracted the virus locally.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 1,497 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 1,107 new infections.

Other districts that reported new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours are: Angul (867), Balasore (524), Bargarh (395), Bhadrak (134), Bolangir (294), Boudh (313), Deogarh (114), Dhenkanal (251), Gajapati (86), Ganjam (228), Jagatsinghpur (325), Jajpur (378), Jharsuguda (247), Kalahandi (205), Kandhamal (101), Kendrapada (204), Keonjhar (193), Koraput (266), Malkangiri (110), Mayurbhanj (538), Nabarangpur (346), Nayagarh (382), Nuapada (152), Puri (424), Rayagada (233), Sambalpur (393), Subarnapur (227) and Sundargarh (703).

The State Pool reported 261 new cases in the last 24 hours.These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive. A total of 1,11,18,984 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 10,036.
