Odisha registers 7,216 new COVID-19 cases; Cuttack highest with 1,091

Bhubaneswar May 28 :Odisha registered 7,216 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 7,39,955. The active caseload in the state now stands at 1,02,072. Out of the 7,216 new infections, 4,041 were reported from quarantine centres while 3,175 persons contracted the virus locally.

Cuttack district registered the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 1,091 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Khurda with 809 new infections.

These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,15,96,753 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 11,551.
