4 robbers, 4 receivers arrested in Bhubaneswar; 70 phones, 23 laptops seized

Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: The Commissionrate Police special squad today busted two robbery gangs in state capital and arrested 8 including 4 robbers and 4 receivers in the connection.

The arrested have been identified as Ranjan Satpathy (20) of Chakeisiani; Sanjaya Behera (23) of Maszzid Colony, Mali Sahi; Mantu Paikray (38) of Nimapara in Puri district; Chandan Kumar Pradhan (27) of Mahabir Nagar, Samantrapur (receiver); Bhagabata Prasad Mohapatra (32) of Tangi Sahi, Gurujanga; SK Zawed (37) of Hata Sahi, Muslim Basti in Nimapara; Alok Behera of Gop in Puri district and Pradip Kumar Das (33) of Nimapara.

The police have also seized 70 mobile phones, 23 laptops, nine bikes and two led TVs from their possessions.

According to police, two groups of criminals were involved in racket. One group was targeting different mess under the Khandagiri and Tamando areas and were stealing laptops and mobile phones and were selling to buyers and the second group was involved in snatching mobile phones and bikes from the roads in morning hours finding the victims alone.
