NewDelhi Dec 28 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has tested positive for Covid-19. The development comes in amid the threat of an impending third wave in India.
According to the BCCI sources, Ganguly has been admitted to a hospital after his RT-PCR test report turned out to be positive. He, however, is said to be in a stable state at the moment.
What is a piece of assuring news is that Ganguly is double vaccinated, and hence, is unlikely to be severely affected by the virus. He has been travelling extensively, taking part in all professional activities, as the president of the BCCI.
The 49-year-old was taken to a hospital late on Monday night after his RT-PCR report turned out to be positive. However, the hospitalisation is only a precautionary measure.
“He was taken to Woodlands Nursing Home last night. He has been given medication and is currently stable,” a BCCI source tracking Ganguly’s health .
Ganguly has had a few health-related issues this year. He was admitted to the hospital twice in 2021, including an incident related to a heart issue that saw him undergo emergency angioplasty. His elder brother Snehasish Ganguly had also tested positive for COVID early this year, but back then, Ganguly had returned a negative RT-PCR test.
