Bhubaneswar 31 Jul: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar in its weather alert issued both Orange and Yellow Warnings for several districts of Odisha July 31 and August 1.
The weather agency said that the low-pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining west Bengal coasts now lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts.
As per the Orange Warning (be prepared), heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sambalpur, Boudh, Nayagarh and Angul districts.
As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Subarnapur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput districts.
In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of the state.
From 8.30 AM of July 31 to 8.30 AM of August 1: As per the Orange Warning (be prepared), heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Angul and Sambalpur districts.
As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Subarnapur, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts.
In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of the state.
The weather agency suggested following impacts and actions regarding the weather forecast.
- Temporarily water logging is likely in low-lying areas and underpass roads.
- Traffic advisory may be issued for movement in your destination.
- Possibility of wall collapse of vulnerable kutcha houses and some damage to Kutcha road.
- Landslides in vulnerable hilly areas of Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts are likely.
- Mining activity may be judicially regulated in Angul and Dhenkanal districts.
