Netrananda Dandasena of Itishree Pradhan murder case dies at hospital

Rayagada, August 17: Former inspector Netrananda Dandasena who was serving life imprisonment in the sensational Itishree Pradhan murder case died this morning.

Dandasena, the lone accused in the murder case, was not keeping well for the last two days and was admitted to the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput last night.

He died this morning while undergoing treatment.

Itishree, a non-formal teacher with the Upper Primary School at Tikiri in Rayagada, was set on fire by unidentified miscreants in the school premises on October 27, 2013. She succumbed to the injuries at a private hospital in Vishakhapatnam on November 1 that year.

 The lady teacher had accused Dandasena, the then Inspector of Schools, of sexual harassment.

The state government had ordered a Crime Branch probe into the case. Later, CBI also took up probe into the matter.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment by Rayagada District and Sessions Court on 26 April, 2016.
