Express service Started for Bulk Waste Generators in Rourkela

Rourkela October 16 : The Rourkela Municipal Corporation today launched Express Service with the aim of providing more facilities to the city’s Bulk Waste Generators. The corporation has arranged two special vehicles for this purpose. Rourkela MLA and Sundargarh District Planning Committee Chairman Sarada Prasad Nayak and Rourkela Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida inaugurated the service. Waste management of bulk waste generators, especially hotels and restaurants, has always been a headache for the corporation. Due to the lack of space, most of the city’s Bulk West generators were unable to compost in their respective premises, and the Rourkela Municipal Corporation’s cleaning staffs were struggling to collect and process it regularly due to the large amount of waste generated. With this in mind, the corporation has launched this express service. Under the service, two special vehicles will be collecting the wet and dry waste separately from the bulk waste generators and will take it to the micro-composting center for processing. There, the waste will be processed and the wet waste will be turned into compost and the dry waste will be sorted accordingly and will be reused. According to the Solid Waste Management Regulations, the charges / user fees are fixed for this service. Every day at the scheduled time, the vehicle will go to the premises of the bulk waste generators and collect waste from there. Route charts have been prepared for this and time has been set for each area. The launch of the service will help alleviate the long-term problems of bulk waste generators and gives more hope for successful implementation of on-going efforts for a clean Rourkela, said Mr Dibyajyoti Parida, Commissioner, RMC. Similarly Rourkela MLA and Sundargarh District Planning Committee Chairman Sj. Sarada Prasad Nayak expressed his happiness for the efforts being taken by the municipal authorities in this regard. Mr. Sudhanshu Kumar Bhoi & Mrs. Sitadevi Majhi; Deputy Commissioners of the Municipal Corporation, Mr. Sushil Kumar Parida, Health Officer, RMC, Office Bearers of the Hotel and Restaurant Association, Rourkela among others were present at the launch of the Express Service.
