Bhubaneswar Apr 19 : Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a bonus sum of Rs 120 crore and other assistance for the welfare of kendu leaf pluckers.
Reportedly, the bonus will benefit around 8 lakh kendu leaf pluckers, binders, and other seasonal staff associated with it.
Adding to it, the state government has decided to hike the collection price of kendu leaves which will benefit 7.50 workers in the state who can earn more than Rs 240 crore.
It is to be noted that the state government is investing the all the benefits of Kendu leaves business for the welfare of Trade surplus and Seasonal Staff.
Earlier in 2020, such a bonus was also announced in the wake of their plight during the nationwide lock down fueled by the coronavirus outbreak.
