Bhubaneswar Apr 30 : India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low pressure area over the south Andaman sea around May 5, 2022.
As per IMD, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around May 4. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the next 24 hours.
It is likely to become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours. There is a possibility of further intensification by May 6. Several models and private agencies are predicting intensification of the system into a cyclone.
However, IMD has not made any predictions in this regard. Whether it will take the shape of a cyclone can only be ascertained in the next two to three days, said IMD.
It is pertinent to mention here that several parts of Odisha are experiencing severe heatwave conditions due to lack of Nor’wester rains this season.
Meanwhile, IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has predicted a drop in maximum temperature in the next couple of days as there is possibility of rain and thunderstorm.
