Jaipur January 4 : The situation is worsening in Rajasthan after bird flu virus was detected in crows, whose carcasses were found in the city three days ago, civic health officials have said.The authorities are now on high alert.<\/p>\n
Kunji Lal Meena, Rajasthan principal secretary, said on Sunday, “Till now, 47 crows have died in Kota, 100 in Jhalawar and 72 in Baran. No death reported in Bundi. We are taking necessary steps to spread awareness and control the situation.”On Saturday, 25 deaths were reported in Jhalawar, 19 in Barra and 22 in Kota.<\/p>\n
152 crows were found dead in Jodhpur. Deaths of crows have been reported from Jhalawar, Kota, Pali among other places. Birds like kingfishers and magpies have also been found dead.<\/p>\n
Meena said he has set up a control room in Jhalawar, and an alert has been issued across the state.<\/p>\n
Bird flu virus detected in dead crows in Indore<\/strong><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The bird flu virus has been detected in around 50 crows whose carcasses were found in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, three days ago, putting the authorities on alert, news agency PTI reported a civic health official as saying on Friday.<\/p>\n Pramod Sharma, deputy director of Indore veterinary service, said that on Friday, 20 more crows were found dead on Daly College’s premises. The test results of these carcasses were awaited. Madhya Pradesh’s Indore has already been worst-affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n “Nearly 50 crows were found dead on the campus of The Daly College in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on Tuesday. Some of the carcasses were sent for tests to Bhopal. They were found to be carrying the H5N8 virus,” Indore chief medical and health officer Poornima Gadaria said.<\/p>\n Centre issues alert to states<\/strong><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The central government has also issued an alert to the states, saying that samples need to be collected from areas where bird flu deaths are being reported.<\/p>\n The authorities have also launched a drive to identify those with suspected flu symptoms in the area.<\/p>\n A survey is being conducted to trace those with cold, cough and fever in the radius of five kilometres in the plush residency area where the college is situated. “Suspected patients’ swab samples will be tested,” she added.<\/p>\n Bird flu can spread to human beings and prove fatal. As a protocol, the state governments have imposed prohibitory orders in areas where bird mortality has been reported, and may go for the culling of poultry if located within a kilometre of such a site.<\/p>\n
