Bhubaneswar Sep 24 : As many as nine migrant Odia labourers are reportedly stranded in a camp in the far off shores of Oman.<\/p>\n
The helpless labourers have now sought help of Odisha government and the people of the State for their safe return.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the migrant labourers had been to Oman to work in a private company last year. However, the company stopped functioning after two months. The labourers lost their jobs in the process and are penniless now. They are not able to return to their home.<\/p>\n
The labourers have requested the Odisha government and the people of the State back home to extend their helping hands and make necessary arrangements for their return.<\/p>\n
“Sans any job and money, we are in deep trouble here. We lost a friend two days ago. We urge Odisha government and people of our State to ensure our safe return from Oman,” said a migrant labourer.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Bahrain Odia Society President Arun Kumar Praharaj has assured that all arrangement have been made for the return of the stranded Odia labourers back home.<\/p>\n
“We are trying to send the migrant Odia labourers back home by the end of this month. I thank the Indian government, Odisha government and Indian Embassy for their support,” said Praharaj.<\/p>\n
“However, I will continue to follow up till the labourers reach Odisha safely,” he said.<\/p>\n
Notably, an Odia migrant labourer identified as Pradeep Pahan, a resident of Kamalapadar village under Khallikote Police Station in Ganjam district, had lost his life in a road accident in Oman a few days back.<\/p>\n
