Under-construction Flyover on Gurugram-Dwarka Expressway Collapses; 3 Injured

New Delhi March 28 : At least 3 labourers have been injured after an under-construction flyover on Gurugram-Dwarka Expressway near Daulatabad collapsed on Sunday. The incident took place at around 7:30 AM today, said police, adding that locals and rescue team have rushed to the spot. “Three workers have suffered minor injuries when a portion of an under-construction flyover on Gurugram-Dwarka Expressway near Daulatabad collapsed around 7.30 AM today. They are undergoing treatment at a hospital. Fortunately, there have been no fatalities”, a news agency quoted a police official as saying.Initial reports suggest that a serious mishap was averted as traffic volume was low when the incident took place. The exact reason for the collapse is yet to be ascertained, said officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

“The reason for the collapse is yet to be determined, an inquiry will be initiated into the matter. As per information available until now, there have been no fatalities in the incident. There was no work going on at the site when it happened,” Indian Express quoted Nirman Jambulkar, Project Director, Dwarka Expressway as saying.

Earlier last year, a similar incident had happened in which 2 people were injured. A portion of a 6-km-long under-construction flyover had collapsed on Gurugram’s Sohna road.
