Sanjay Dutt hospitalised, tests negative for COVID-19

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on Saturday evening after he complained of chest discomfort and his oxygen saturation level dipped. Dutt has been admitted to an intensive care unit and is stable, doctors said.

At the hospital, the 61-year-old actor underwent a rapid antigen test for Covid-19, and the result was negative, doctors said. An RT-PCR test conducted late Saturday also found him negative for coronavirus.

His treating doctor, Jalil Parkar, who himself recovered from Covid-19 last month, said a few more tests are being conducted to assess Dutt’s medical parameters and why his oxygen level had dipped.

He is stable,’ said hospital’s Chief Operating Officer Dr V Ravishankar.

The actor, who celebrated his birthday last week on July 29, later tweeted: ‘Just wanted to assure everyone that I’m doing well. I’m currently under medical observation & my COVID-19 report is negative. With the help & care of the doctors, nurses & staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two. Thank you for your well wishes & blessings.’
