Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee hikes 40k salary of MLA and Minister.

Kolkata 8 Sep: Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister, proposed a pay increase of Rs 40,000 for the state’s legislators and ministers on Thursday in honor of the Bengali New Year, or “Poila Baishakh,” noting that it was very low compared to other states.

“MLAs in West Bengal receive the lowest pay in the nation,” the minister claimed. The state administration has decided to add Rs 40,000 to the present monthly salaries of MLAs (currently Rs 10,000), state ministers (currently Rs 10,900), and cabinet ministers (currently Rs 11,000). From this point forward, parliamentarians would receive Rs 50,000 per month, state ministers Rs 50,900, and cabinet ministers Rs 51,000.

However, Banerjee stated that the chief minister’s pay would not be increased.”I don’t take my pay out. I also don’t use my central ministry pension. For me, the royalties from my works are sufficient. Therefore, Banerjee remarked, “I decided not to raise the chief minister’s salary.”
